Beware! |
I have a yamada 6100 which works like a dream and decided to get my girlfriends father this 2500 as it was cheap and my yamada worked great. However when it arrived it said "bad disc" to many of my DVDs so went straight back to Amazon Whilst at the post office returning the DVD player, the woman behind the counter said about 5 had already gone back this week from my local post office alone! So watch out because theres a lot of faulty ones about!

Watch out for Pirates of the Caribbean ... |
|
I have two of these at home, one awaiting return to Amazon because at first we thought it was faulty. A call to UMAX tech support has shown that there is a known problem with the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 disc set (& possibly other DVDs, I guess?) which means that a firmware fix will shortly be available on the UMAX website. Apart from that, this is a good little box for the money, although I find the remote control a bit fussy about exactly where you point it and I cant find the code to make it work with my Philips 4 in 1 replacement remote.

Problems |
|
The Yamada 2500 does have a couple of problems. It will not play Looking for Nemo which was a disappointment for my grandchildren. (I asked for another copy - again no play) and my daughter purchased another all to no avail but they all play on other DVD players!. And it does keep freezing after about 15mins luckily only for a very short time. I will try it out more the picture and sound are very good.
